Latin Lounge offers a warm, vibrant musical experience that is perfect for any event. Blending smooth Latin rhythms with elements of Jazz, Bossa Nova, contemporary lounge and Pop tunes, their sound creates an inviting atmosphere. The cool sound of the trumpet combined with Nuevo Flamenco guitar and Latin percussion rhythms breathes new energy into Jazz standards and transforms Top 40 Pop songs into recognizable Jazz tunes. 

Their vast repertoire includes everything from George Gershwin’s 1930 classic Summertime to the 80’s retro favourite Human Nature by Michael Jackson to Camila Cabello’s hit Havana. Latin Lounge features Al Guraliuk on trumpet & flugelhorn with guitarist John Gilliat and Paul Bray on percussion. The band delivers a polished performance that enhances the ambiance without overwhelming conversation.

Latin Lounge is the perfect band for patio and outdoor performances. The trio has performed popup sidewalk concerts for the Kerrisdale, Granville, Mount Pleasant, Gastown and Cambie Village BIAs. Latin Lounge has also created a warm atmosphere at many other events  for such clients as Chaberton Estate Winery, Pacific Center Mall and Raymond James Ltd.

Meet the Band

Latin Lounge features three of Vancouver's uniquely talented musicians

Since receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from UBC Al has traveled to New York, LA, New Orleans, Havana, San Juan and Rio de Janeiro to further study music. He is actively involved in Vancouver’s musical community performing in a variety of bands.

This talented horn player has been a featured jazz soloist at concerts held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and The Arts Club Theatre.  Latin Lounge is the perfect outlet for his love of Jazz, Latin, World Beat, Pop and Lounge music.

Through the strings of his guitar, John brings to life a fresh direction in Nuevo Flamenco. After high school John toured across Canada and the United States with various pop groups, playing venues such as Harrah's in Lake Tahoe and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. 

After several years John took the time to formally study at Capilano University and immersed himself in Flamenco guitar tradition. This master guitarist has sold over 20,000 copies of his albums to date.

Paul Bray is a dynamic and charismatic multi-talented percussionist working as a music educator and performer in Vancouver. He has devoted his attention to the study of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian musical styles and has studied extensively in Cuba and Brazil. 

Paul has performed with Nuevo Flamenco recording artist Jesse Cook and numerous other Latin and Drum ensembles. Currently, Paul is an instructor at the Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach and a freelance musician.
