The Gatsby Strutters Jazz Band plays music from the early swing era when couples were dancing the Charleston and the Lindy Hop at The Cotton Club and The Savoy in Harlem. In addition to Hot Jazz and early Swing the band plays the best songs from the Great American Songbook. Ragtime, Traditional Jazz, Tin Pan Alley Songs, Prohibition Music … no matter what you call it, above all, it IS PERFECT for a Great Gatsby Theme Event!
The Gatsby Strutters capture the spirit and energy of the roaring twenties with the music of Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Fats Waller, Scott Joplin, Bix Beiderbecke, Jelly Roll Morton and many more. The Gatsby Strutters Jazz Band consists of trumpet, clarinet, banjo, and acoustic bass with optional drums and trombone. This elegant ensemble are featured performers for Silent Movie Mondays at the Historic Orpheum Theatre presented by Vancouver Civic Theatres/City of Vancouver.
The Gatsby Strutters have created a fun and festive atmosphere at Great Gatsby Themed events for TD Bank at The Commodore Ballroom, Nike at The Rocky Mountaineer Train Station and at many private parties and special events. A partial list of past clients include:
